Lawrence (Larry) Randall Brown, II

began his career as an educator in 1991 as a teacher of science at Whitley City Middle School in Whitley City, Ky. Lawrence has taught with Pine Knot Job Corps Civilian Conservation Center for over 20 years and has held several positions, including Career Preparation Program coordinator and Academic instructor. Larry’s diverse work experience has given him the insight needed to effectively assist trainees in achieving their goals.

Kevin Shirley - Advanced Computer Systems Administration - Harpers Ferry Job Corps Civilian Conservation Center

Kevin Shirley

is the Advanced Information Technology instructor at Harpers Ferry Job Corps Civilian Conservation Center. He has over 20 years of experience as a Job Corps instructor, working at Great Onyx Job Corps Center before joining the Harpers Ferry team. Kevin holds a number of industry certifications and serves as an Incident Technical Support Specialist (ITSS) for the Forest Service, which allows him to train students to become ITSS-certified. Kevin also serves on the network advisory board to foster a partnership with the Blue Ridge Technical and Community College.

is the Cement Masonry instructor at Harpers Ferry Job Corps Civilian Conservation Center. After graduating from the plastering and masonry programs from Job Corps in 1987, he joined the Local 29 Union, where he excelled in both trades. Dean enjoys helping students find meaningful careers with the training they receive.

Stephen Winder - Bricklaying - Harpers Ferry Job Corps Civilian Conservation Center

Stephen Winder

began his career in bricklaying with pre-apprenticeship training at his high school and later worked with the Local #1 Union for 10 years. He taught bricklaying at a local high school for nine years before joining Harpers Ferry Job Corps Civilian Conservation Center as the Bricklaying instructor. Stephen enjoys working with students and views it as a way to give back, training them to take pride in their work and find successful careers.

Ron Hartle - Carpentry, Pre-Apprentice - Harpers Ferry Job Corps Civilian Conservation Center

Ron Hartle

is the United Brotherhood of Carpenters Carpentry Pre-Apprenticeship instructor at Harpers Ferry Job Corps Civilian Conservation Center. He has over 40 years of experience as both a residential and commercial carpenter, serving in positions from carpenter to project manager. Ron has trained Job Corps students for over 15 years, instructing students in construction safety, construction math, hand and power tools, and more, as well as helping them earn industry credentials.

Susan Taulbee - Academics and Life Skills - Frenchburg Job Corps Civilian Conservation Center

Susan Taulbee

, TABE instructor, is a graduate of Eastern Kentucky University and Morehead State University. Susan has been an instructor at Frenchburg Job Corps Civilian Conservation Center for several years. She is available to assist students with obtaining their high school diplomas and improving their TABE scores. As a disability coordinator, she ensures students with disabilities receive the accommodations they are eligible for. 

Terry Justice - Carpentry - Frenchburg Job Corps Civilian Conservation Center

Terry Justice

brings 30 years of construction industry experience to his role as Carpentry instructor at Frenchburg Job Corps Civilian Conservation Center. He also is a member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America Local 472. When he isn’t working, Terry enjoys fishing, camping, hunting, and volunteering for children and youth.
