Requirements

Before entering the program, students must:

  • Comply with state requirements that may involve a criminal background check and completion of a training program meeting federal content requirements.
  • Strong listening, communication, and organizational skills
  • Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certification
  • At least 3,500 hours of experience as a dental assistant to achieve General Chairside (GC) certification
  • Have a clean criminal record and background check, meaning you can’t have been convicted of a drug or pharmacy-related felony within the last 5 years.
  • Complete one of Job Corps' basic Heath Care career technical training program.
  • Possess state certification as a nurse assistant.
  • Submit letters of recommendation from Job Corps health and wellness personnel.
  • Submit letters of recommendation from Job Corps staff and any previous health-related employment.
  • Complete the core curriculum with passing scores on all written and performance tests.
  • Have strong math and reading skills.
  • Have a high school diploma or equivalent.
