Job Corps
Center opened
in June, 1965 at the old Kanawha Hotel on Summers
Street in Charleston as an all female center. In
1976 the Charleston Job Corps Center became a
coeducational facility. The
center was relocated in 1997 to a new mountaintop
campus overlooking the city of Charleston, W.Va. The center is approximately
10 minutes from downtown Charleston, the capital of West Virginia.
Campus
The Charleston Job Corps Center has a capacity for 400
students, including a non-residential students
component. The non-residential students are
provided transportation to the CJCC campus. The center has four dorms in two buildings. Each student shares a dorm
room with up to three other people, and bath facilities are located
in each room.
